Let s = one side of the square piece of cardboard required
then
(s-6) = side of the base of the square box, (height will be 3")
:
Height * area of the base = the volume
3(s-6)^2 = 5547
(s-6)^2 =
(s - 6)^2 = 1849
Find the square root of both sides
s - 6 =
s - 6 = 43
s = 43 + 6
s = 49" square piece of cardboard required.
