Question 31014: The sum of three times a number and 7 more than the number is the same as the difference between -11 and twice the number. What is the number?
Answer by ikdeep(226) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let the number = x
According to the condition given in the question ,,,,we get the equation..
3x + x + 7 = -11 - 2x
taking like variables together we get...
3x + x + 2x = -11 - 7
6x = -18
divide both sides by 6 and we get..
x = -3
Now if you want to verify you answer ,,,you can put the values of x in the equation and if you get LHS=RHS,,,this means that you answer is correct..
hope this will help you
