Question 286284: A car driving against the wind goes 45 miles in 75 minutes. It would have traveled the same distance in 65 minutes if there had been no wind. About how fast was the wind blowing?

Against the wind the car could go 45 miles in 75 minutes
75 min / 60 min/hr = 1.25 hr
45 miles / 1.25 hr = 36 miles/hr
.
With no wind the car could go 45 miles in 65 minutes
65 min / 60 min/hr = 1.08333 hr
45 miles / 1.08333 hr = 41.53859 miles/hr
.
So the wind was blowing at 41.53859 - 36 = 5.53859 miles/hr
.
