Question 28036: Please help. My problem is as follows: Laura is certain that every time she parks in the municipal garage it costs her at least $2.20. If the garage charges 45 cents plus 25 cents for each half hour, for how long is Laura's car generally parked? I came up with:
X +.45 +.25 = $2.20
X -.45 -.25 = $2.20 - .45 -.25
X = $1.50
Thanking you in advance.
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let number of half-hours of parking be "x"
Cost to Laura for x half-hours will be 45 cents + 25x cents
INEQUALITY:
Cost to Laura >=220 cents
45+25x>=220
25x>=375\
x>=5 (number of half hours Laura is usually parked)

Stan H.
