For the product to be 0 at least one of the factors must be 0. Since x > 1, both 2x+3 and x-1 are greater than 0. So we must have k = 0.

Given, k(2x + 3)(x – 1) = 0
So either k=0 or 2x+3=0 or x-1=0
k=0 or x=-3/2 or x=1
Since x>1, we must have k=0
