There is a cookie jar filled with 45 cookies, if the cookies are distrubuted in A 2:3:4 RATIO among 3 children. What is the greatest number of cookies that any one child receives?

The numbers in a ratio can always be multiplied or divided by any
positive number and the ratio is the same. Divide each part of the
ratio 2:3:4 by the sum of the numbers 2+3+4=9. Then we have the same
ratio

::

reduce the  to

::

Now multiply each number by 45:

::

So one child receives 10 cookies, one child receives 15 cookies,
and one child receives 20 cookies.

So the greatest of these is 20 cookies.
