Gary’s poles each have 11 worms on their lines. Between the two of them, Daniel and Gary have 13 poles and 103 worms. How many poles does each boy have?

Let daniel's pole be x
Let Gary's pole be y
Now together they have x+y=13 poles.
Solve for y
y=13-x(subsitution)
Dainel's pole has 6 worms = 6x
Gary's pole has 11 worms = 11y
Together they haves.
6x+11y=103
Subsitute)
6x+11(13-x)=103
6x-11x+143=103
5x=40
x=8
y=13-8
y=5.

Hence, Daniel has 8 poles and Gary has 5 poles.
