Answer by drk(1908) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
right now we are at 1/8 full
15 gallons got us up to 3/4 = 6/8.
This means 15 gallons is the same as 5/8 tank.
We can create a proportion to get our answer as
step 1 - cross multiply to get
step 2 - multiply 15 by (8/5) to get
So, 24 - 15 = 9 gallons to fill the tank.
