Question 256167:
A 30% salt solution is prepared by mixing a 20% salt solution and a 45% salt solution. How many liters of each must be used to produce 60 L of the 30% salt solution?
Must use 2 variables.

.45X+.20(60-X)=.30*60
.45X+12-.20X=18
.25X=18-12
.25X=6
X=6/.25
X=24 LITERS OF 45% SALT SOLUTION IS USED.
.45*24+.20(60-24)=.30*60
10.8+.20*36=18
10.8+7.2=18
18=18
