Question 254813: What is the distance between the x- and the y- intercepts of y=1/4x+2?
Answer by richwmiller(17219) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You need to do three things.
Find the x intercept
0=1/4x+2
-2=1/4x
-8=x
(-8,0)
Find the y intercept
From the equation 0,2
Find the distance between them
8^2+2^2=c^2
64+4=68=c^2
c=sqrt(68)
factors of 68
17,4
c=2sqrt(17)
c=8.24621 distance between them
