One way to think about this problem is to put it on a coordinate plane, if that makes sense for you. Start at (0,0) and the move +14 on the X-axis. Second, from (14,0) move 3 down to (14,-3). Third, move -19 along the X-axis to (-5,-3). Finally, move +3 and you are at (-5,0). This means you are 5 units from your start point, or (E).
