If "the numerator of the first ratio multiplied by the denominator of the
second ratio" is bigger than the "the numerator of the second ratio multi- plied by the denominator of the first ratio", then the first ratio is
bigger and vice versa. i.e. taking the above, if A*D > C*B, the A:B greater.
If A*D < C*B, then C:D is greater. I hope this clear now. Now taking the
problem,
35.00 : 1.40 and 48.00 : 1.44 Applying the above, we get
35.00*1.44 and 48.00*1.40
= 50.40 and 67.20 So 50.40 < 67.20
= the second ratio 48.00 : 1.44 is greater. Answer.
