What does it mean to refer to a 20 in TV set or a 25 in set? Many are referring to the diagonal of the screen. A 25 in tv set also has a width of 20 in. What is the height? (in inches)
----------------------
Draw the picture including the diagonal.
Label the diagonal "25"
Label the width "20"
Label the height "x".
-------------
Use Pythagoras to solve for "x":
x^2 + 20^2 = 25^2
x^2 = 625 - 400
x^2 = 225
x = 15" (height)
