Question 24901: Technology. Driving down a mountain, Tom finds that he has descended 1800ft in elevation by the time he is 3.25 mi horizontally away from the top of the mountain. Find the slope of his descent to the nearest hundredth.

Find the slope:
Slope is Rise over run. Rise = 1800 ft and run = 3.25 miles.
Slope = (1800 ft.)/(3.25 miles) Conver miles to feet.
1 mole = 5,280 ft.
3.25 miles = 3.25(5,280)ft. = 17,160 ft.
Slope = 1,800/17,160
Slope = 0.104895
Slope = 0.1 to the nearest hundredth.
