Question 247484: The sum of two numbers is twentyone. three times the smaller is two less than twice the larger number. find the two numbers
Answer by checkley77(12844)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x+y=21 or x=21-y
3x=2y-2 substitute (21-y) for x in this equation & solve for y.
3(21-y)=2y-2
63-3y=2y-2
-3y-2y=-2-63
-5y=-65
y=-65/-5
y=13 ans.
x+13=21
x=21-13
x=8 ans.
Proof:
3*8=2*13-2
24=26-2
24=24
