Answer by richwmiller(17219) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let sue=s
jane=j
and rod=r
s+j+r=42
s=j+4
r=j+s+2
substitute
j+4+j+j+s+2=42
j+4+j+j+j+4+2=42
4j+10=42
4j=32
j=8
s=12
r=8+12+2=22
check
8+12+22=42
42=42
