Answer by Theo(13342)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
17 ate pizza
11 ate hotdors
4 ate neither
8 ate both.

you have 17 + 11 + 4 = 32

out of the 17 + 11, 8 are counted twice so you have to subtract 8.

you have 32 - 8 = 24

4 did not eat any hotdogs or pizza
9 ate only pizza (17-8)
3 ate only hotdogs (11-8)
8 ate both pizza and hotdogs

4 + 9 + 3 + 8 = 24

Looks like that's your number.
