Question 236034: Can you please explain this to me? I think the argument is correct, but I'm not 100% and I wouldn't know where to begin explaining why. Thanks so much for your help!!

Hosni gave the following argument that - (a + b) = -a + -b, for all integers a and b. If the argument is correct, supply the missing reasons. If it is incorrect, explain why not.
-(a + b) = (-1)(a + b)
= (-1)a + (-1)b
= -a + -b

It is correct, but more simplified would be -a - b
