Question 224317: Using data for the years 1985-1990, the function y=9x+32.5 can be used to estimate the first trend, while the function y=7x+35 can be used to estimate the second trend.For both functions x is the number of years since 1985. If these trends continue, in what year are the two trends equal?
Answer by rapaljer(4671) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
9x+32.5=7x+35
2x=2.5
x=1.25 years.
If x=0 corresponds to 1985, then x=1.25 looks like it would be in 1987, the year I earned my doctorate at the University of Florida!!
