A carpenter has a piece of lumber measuring 7 feet 6 and 3/4 inches long. How much must the carpenter saw off to be left with a piece 5 feet 11 and 5/16 inches long? I used common denominators of 16 and then subtracted and I came up with 1 feet 7 and 7/16 inches
