Average cost was 150,000/x dollars.

New number is "x+10"
Average cost will be 150,000/(x+10)

Equation:
old cost - new cost = 1250
150,000/x - 150000/(x+10) = 1250
--------------
1500000 = 1250x(x+10)
1200 = x(x+10)
x^2 + 10x - 1200 = 0
(x-30)(x+40) = 0
Positive solution:
