a 152-foot piece of rope is to be cut into four piece. each successive piece is to be 2 feet longer than the pervious one. find the length of the shortest piece?
----
shortest: 2x-4
next::::: 2x-2
next::::: 2x
next::::: 2x+2
----------------------
Equation:
Add all four to get:
8x-4 = 152
8x = 156
2x = 39
shortest = 2x-4 = 35 ft.
Checking:
35+37+39+41 = 152
