x+2 = another number
x(x+2) = 224
x^2+2x-224=0
And then you factor that? I have no clue.

x^2 + 2x - 224 = 0
224 = 2 * 2 * 2 * 2 * 2 * 7 = 16 * 14
(x + 16)(x - 14) = 0
