Answer by rfer(16322)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A) x= 2nd shift
1.5x= 1st shift
x+1.5x=5600
2.5x=5600
2nd shift=x=2240
1st shift=1.5x=3360
---------------------
B) 100x+300(40-x)=8400
100x+12000-300x=8400
-200x=-3600
200x=3600
x=18 wrenches
40-18=22 hammers
100*18=1800
300*22=6600
total=$8400
