Of these, 7 were going to buy both a car and a refrigerator, 15 were going to buy a car and a washer, and 9 were going to buy a washer and a refrigerator. Three consumers indicated that they were going to buy all three items.
Construct a Venn diagram, label your diagram clearly.
Use your diagram to answer the following questions:

1.In a survey of 100 consumers,
33 indicated that they were going to buy a new car,
18 said they were going to buy a new refrigerator, and
34 said they were going to buy a new washer.
-------------------------------------------------
Of these, 7 were going to buy both a car and a refrigerator,
15 were going to buy a car and a washer, and
9 were going to buy a washer and a refrigerator.
Three consumers indicated that they were going to buy all three items.
===============================================================
Construct a Venn diagram, label your diagram clearly.
=============================================================
Draw 3 intersecting circles all inside one rectangle.
Label the rectangle U = 100 (that is the universe)
Label each circle as C = 33, W=34, R=18
-------------------------------------------
Now start putting numbers in the circle.
Work from the inside to the outside.
Put a 3 in the intersection of all three circles.
---------------------------------------------
Then C intersect W = 15-3 = 12
And C intersect R = 7-3 = 4
And R intersect W = 9-3 = 6
----------------------------------
Then the rest of C has to be 33-(12+3+4) = 14
And the rest of R has to be 18-(4+3+6) = 5
And the rest of W has to be 34-(6+3+12) = 13
--------------------------------------
And the inside of the rectangle, but outside the
3 circles is 100-(14+12+3+4+5+6+13) = 100 - 57 = 43
==========================================================
Use your diagram to answer the following questions:
(a)How many were going to buy only a car? 14
(b)How many were going to buy only a washer? 13
(c)How many were going to buy only a refrigerator5
(d)How many were going to buy a car and a washer but not a refrigerator? 12
(e)How many were going to buy none of these items? 43
