2. The sum of three consecutive odd numbers is 99; what are the numbers?
the three odd numbers are x, x+2 & x+4
x+(x+2)+(x+4)=99
3. A woman buys four CDs for $52.92, including 8% sales tax. How much did each CD cost?
52.92/1.08 is the base price of the 4 CDs before taxes.
(52.92/1.08)/4= price of each CD.
