Question 191353: Ralph leaves all of his property split equally between his six children. One of daughters then splits her portion equally between her four children. What is the percentage of Ralph's property that one of these four grandchildren will receive?
Answer by ptaylor(2198)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
So each of Ralph's children gets 1/6 of his property
One of his daughter's splits her 1/6th into 4th's
Now the question is how many 1/4ths are ther in 1/6th??
In other 4 times some number (x) equals 1/6, so:
4x=1/6 myltiply each side by 6
24x=1 divide each side by 24
x=1/24=0.041667=4.1667%--------------------the percentage of property that one of the four grandchildren gets

Hope this helps---ptaylor
