Answer by solver91311(24713) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
One integer: x
Another integer: y
One integer is 6 less than another integer: x = y - 6
And the lesser integer must be x because it is some amount less than the other integer.
The product of the lesser integer and -7: -7x
Is 42 more than the greater integer: -7x = y + 42
Substitute:
The greater integer is 0 and since 6 less than 0 is -6, the lesser integer is -6.
Check: -7 X -6 = 42 which is 42 greater than 0.
