If the snail goes up 3 and down 2 each day, then it is making 1 foot progress each day. On the morning of the 18th day, it will be 3 feet from the top because it will have made 1 foot progress each of the preceeding 17 days. On the 18th day it will get to the top and not slide down any that night. 18 days.

May 29th----------It only has 3 ft to go. So when it crawls up the final three feet, I believe that bad boy is out of there----no more slidig back!!!
Hope this helps---ptaylor
