The company wishes to market and sell cans of juice drink for 39 cents that is part juice and part drink. How many ounces of each should be used if the juice drink is to be sold in an 8-ounce can?

D = % of Drink
J + D = 1 --> J = 1 - D
0.49*J + 0.25*D = 0.39
0.49(1-D) + 0.25*D = 0.39
0.49 - 0.24D = 0.39
0.24D = 0.10
D = 0.4167 --> J = 1 - D = 0.5833
That is percentages, so we need to multiply each by 8 ounces!
D = 3.33 , J = 4.66
