If you keep the units with the numbers, it's easy to see. What you want to find is miles per gallon, or miles/gallons.
The miles is 234.8, the gallons is 12.6
So, 234.8 miles/12.6 gallons = 234.8/12.6 (miles/gallons)
= 18.635... mpg
Not great gas mileage, but maybe it was uphill.
