1) 3/4=rt--->r=6/8t
1/4=r2t--->r=1/8t
:
rate of the bike is 6 times faster than walking rate
:
2) numbering pages-repost
:
3) barb's course avg is 9mph
ramirs course avg is (8+10)/2=9mph
:
neither won ....they tied
:
4) if we add all the clear units((1/2)days) with all the rain units(1/2days) and divide by 2 we should get the number of vacation days.

Use the standard formula for distance, rate, and time. , except that we want to find the rate, so use .

For the bicycle part of the trip: because the bicycle part of the trip was 3/4 of the entire distance.

For the walking part of the trip: because the walking part was 1/4 of the trip (1 - 3/4 = 1/4), and the time was twice as long.

Now we need to know the ratio of the bicycle part to the walking part:

Invert and multiply: So the bicycle rate was 6 times faster than the walking rate.

I don't know what didgets are, but if the printer actually used 522 digits, this is the answer to your problem:

The first nine pages are numbered with a single digit, so the first nine pages use 9 digits to number them.

Pages 10 through 99 are numbered with two digits, 99 minus 10 is 89 plus 1 is 90 pages that use two digits to number them.

There are 90 pages that each use two digits, so that is 180 digits used.

So far we have used 9 plus 180 digits, or 189 digits of the 522 total used. 522 minus 189 is 333. Each of the pages subsequent to page 99 uses three digits, so if the number of digits used to number three digit pages is 333, there must be 333 divided by 3 = 111 three-digit pages.

That makes a total of 9 plus 180 plus 111 equals 210 pages.

Since 11 clear mornings plus 12 clear afternoons = 23, that means that it did not rain every day of the vacation. Since it rained 13 days, that means that it did not rain at all on 5 days. That is because 23 - 13 is 10, but that is 10 mornings AND afternoons which equates to 5 days. So it rained 13 days plus 5 days that it did not rain at all is 18 days for the entire vacation.
