al can paint a house in 10 days and ben can paint the house in 12 how long will it take to paint the house if both men work?
----------
Al DATA:
Time = 10 day/job ; Rate = 1/10 job/day
-----------------------------------------
Ben DATA:
Time= 12 day/job ; Rate = 1/12 job/day
-----------------------------------------
Together DATA:
Time = x day/job ; Rate = 1/x job/day
---------------------------------------
rate + rate = together rate
1/10 + 1/12 = 1/x
22/(10*12) = 1/x
x = 120/22
x = 5.454545...(# of days to do the job together)
