Question 168619: Please help me solve this problem.
Into a box are put ten smaller boxes. Each of these smaller boxes is either left empty or is filled with ten still smaller boxes. Of all the boxes, exactly six have other boxes inserted into them. Of all the boxes, how many remain empty? Please explain your answer.

I think 5 boxes are empty
The biggest box is not empty- it has 10
boxes in it
Six boxes have other boxes in them- the
biggest is 1 and that leaves 5 that have
boxes in them
So, 5 of the boxes in the big box have boxes in them
and 5 are empty
