Question 168377: Two drivers leave Omaha at the same time, one driving east and the other west. The average speed of the eastbound car is 12km/h more than the speed of the other car. After 2h, the cars are 336km apart. What are their speeds?
Answer by Mathtut(3670) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
call speed of the east bound r+12
.....speed of the west bound r
distance of the west bound d
and distance of the east bound 336-d
(r+12)2=d.....eq 1 or 2r+24=d
r(2)=336-d....eq 2....now add the equations together to eliminate the d terms
4r=312
speed of the west bound
speed of the east bound
