OK, let's start by setting x be the number of fish Pete caught
to express the number Tom caught, we use the expression x + 5
And for Henry, 3(x+5) because he caught 3 times as many fish as tom
all these fish add to be 50
so x + x+5 + 3(x+5) = 50
5x=30
x=6
So Tom is x +5, substitute in 6 + 5 = 11
Tom caught 11 fish.
