Professor Counts his midterms as 2/3 of the grade and his final as 1/3 of the
grade. If Wendy scored 48 on the midterm, What range of scores on the final
exam would put Wendy’s average between 70-79 inclusive?
:
Let x = score for this to happen
:
Since the midterm grade counts twice as much as the final, write an equation thus:
=> 70
=> 70
Multiply equation by 3:
96 + x = 3(70)
x = 210 - 96
x => 114
:
Do the same with the upper value
=< 79
:
If they don't give grades higher than a hundred, Wendy is in trouble
