Given they both work at the same speed, then you know each of them did half the job in 3 hours.
So it will take each of them twice that to do the job alone. Answer 6 hours
Algebraically:
Let the Judd's rate = j and judy's rate = J
Given
they go the same rate
both working together take 3 hours to do the whole thing
sub in judy's rate for Judd's using the first equation
so they are each able to do 1/6 of the job an hour.
How long do to the full job?
They'll need six hours each.
