Question 159368: I am having a tough time with this one. I used the following forumula: h=1/2gs^2+V0^S+h0
h=-1/2(32)(3)^2 +100+0=-44
this doesn't make any sense, here is the problem:
a rocket is shot straight up from the ground with an initial velocity of 100 feet per second. How high will it be after 3 seconds?
Any help is appreciated.
thanks
Jan

Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
a rocket is shot straight up from the ground with an initial velocity of 100 feet per second. How high will it be after 3 seconds?
-----------
h(t) = -(1/2)gt^2 + vot + ho
h(t) = -(1/2)(32)t^2 + vot + ho
h(t) = -16t^2+100t
h(3) = -16(3^2) + 100*3
h(3) = 156 ft.
