Find an equation in standard form for the line described.
Through Q(-3,2) and parallel to the line containing (2,3) and (1,-2)
-----------------------
First, find the slope of the line thru the 2 points (2,3) and (1,-2)
Slope m = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)
m = (3 - (-2))/(2-1)
m = 5
Being parallel means the lines have the same slope.
Use the slope intercept form:
y-y1 = m*(x-x1) (x1,y1) is the point Q (-3,2)
y-2 = 5*(x-(-3))
y-2 = 5x + 15
5x - y = -17 standard form
