Question 158079: How do I solve this word problem? "In march, Rodney sold twice as many cars as Greg. In April, Rodney sold 5 fewer cars than he did in March, while Greg sold 3 more cars than he did in March. If they sold the same number of cars in April, how many cars did each sell in March?"
Answer by joey_quizan(15) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Sol:
Let say: x = car sold by Greg in March
2x = car sold by Rodney in March
2x-5= Car sold by Rodney in April
x+3 = car sold by Greg in April
2x-5=x+3 they botth sold equal numbers of car in April
Ans: x=8 number of cars sold by Greg in March
2x = 16 number of cars sold by Rodney in March
