Question 15753: I've been trying to figure this problem out for more than a week and cant get it yet. Id really appreciate the help.
Find four consecutive integers such that the sum of the two largest subtracted from twice the sum of the two smallest is 15.
Let x= 1st number
x+1= 2nd number
x+2= 3rd number
x+3= 4th number
2(x+x+1)-x+2+x+3=15
2x+2x+2-x+2+x+3=15
4x+2-2x+5=15
2x+7=15
2x=8
4 (the numbers are 4,5,6,7 they dont solve the problem)

You were doing fine until 4x+2-2x+5=15
If you express it like this(4x+2)-(2x+5)=15 you may spot your error
you need to subtract(+5)from(+2).The equation will then be:
2x-3=15 so:
2x=18
x=9
Integers are then 9,10,11,12.
