Question 157486: i need help with this problem:
Solve the problem: Express the answer in scientific notation to two decimals unless requested otherwise.
A company produced 2,600,000 small appliances in one year and made a profit of $6,690,000. What was the profit on each appliance?

Answer by gonzo(654)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
total profit divided by number of units = profit on each unit.
so........
6,690,000 / 2,600,000 = $2.573 profit per unit rounded to the nearest tenth of a cent.
the answer does not need to be in scientific notation, but if it was, it would be shown as $2.573 * 10^0
the total profit of 6,690,000 in scientific notation would be shown as
$6.69 * 10^6.
the total number of appliances of 2,600,000 in scientific notation would be shown as 2.6 * 10^6.
