Question 156076: A running track has the shape shown in the figure [oval], with straight sides and semicircular ends. If the length of the track is 380 meters and the two straight parts are each 140 meters long, what is the radius of the semicircular parts (to the nearest meter)?

What I tried:
(380-140)/2=120; wrong answer

Answer by oscargut(2103)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
380-2(140)=100 is the length of the circle
so radius is 100/2pi=15.915 (16 m aprox)
Answer: 16 m
