One number is twice another number. If the larger is diminished by ten, the result is two more than the smaller. Find both numbers.
I thought it was: 2x -10, but I wasnt getting it right.
Could you please help me?

You got half the equation 2x-10, but what about "the result is 2 more than the smaller"
2x - 10 = x + 2
2x - x = 2 + 10
x = 12
