Question 151219: A mounument is made in the form of a right pyramid with a regular hexagon as a base. Each base side is 5 m and the slant height is 30m. If the monument is to be covered by metal, how many square meters of metal are needed to cover the sides of the pyramid?

Okay this is good one,
What is asked is square area on the sides, so we need to recall the in finding for hexagonal based pyramid.
For the formula, we need to get the of the + the of the triangles--> that are 6 because it's hexagonal right?
But, what is ask is ONLY the on the sides of the pyramid, not including the base. Good!
Our working eqn, --------> *6
----------> Area of the hexagonal sides
*note: want to take the whole area, go to www.argyll.epsb.ca/jreed/math8
Thank you,
Jojo
