Let p = par for one round then par for 3 rounds would be 3p, correct?
You have given that Leo had rounds of p-3, p+12 and p-7 (using the above notation.)
If we add these 3 scores we have p-3 + p+12 + p-7.
Combining like terms gives us 3p + 2 and since the par for three rounds is 3p, we see that Leo is 2 shots over.
