Question 148847: I need to turn in a discussion question about system of inequalities using a real world example from work. I do staffing for a 500 bed hospital. Each unit has a staffing formula. Each unit has 36 beds. The staffing formula calls for .39 staff per patient. However we staff in whole people, not .39 peoples. And the fewest staff members we have at any one time on any unit is 2. For example if the number of patients is 8 or more , or 10 or less, then we would require 3 staff members.I can write it in a table easily but is there an "inequality" equation for it?
Thank you
Sheryl

A lot of these "math problems" are silly, and you shouldn't have to tolerate them.
But....
Whenever something said to be equal and numbers are given, you can make it into an inequality by altering it.
As mentioned above, Staff = 0.39*Patients
So, Staff is greater than 0.38*Patients, and Staff <=0.4*Patients.
