Question 141101: When I said i could get the job done in a week, i was assuming i would have 2 more bulldozers. with the bulldozers i have, i would have the job done in 8 days. but now all my bulldozers are out of operation except 1. now I'll probably be weeks late. with all the information obtained is it possible to find out how many weeks late the engineer would be. find the result or alternatively state conclusions that would lead to the answer.
Answer by scott8148(6628) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2 more bulldozers shortens an 8 day job to a 7 day job
this means that the 2 extra bulldozers do 1/8 of the job in 7 days
14 bulldozer-days (like man-hours) to do 1/8 of the job, so 112 (8*14) bulldozer-days to do the whole job
with only one bulldozer, it will take 112 days (16 weeks) to do the job
