Question 138922: If the perimeter of a dance floor is 34m and the area is 60m squared. What are the lengths of the sides?
Answer by edjones(8007) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2L+2w=34
Lw=60
.
L=60/w
2(60/w)+2w=34
120/w+2w=34
120+2w^2=34w multiply each side by w to eliminate fraction.
2w^2-34w+120=0
2(w^2-17w+60)=0
(w-12)(w-5)=0
w=12, w=5
Dimensions of the dance floor L=12 m, w=5 m or vice versa.
